Are you holding onto a security blanket?

If you were to look at your life right now, is there one thing (or more) that you feel provides you with safety and security? Now imagine what it would be like to live (happily and peacefully) without that security blanket!

As we are called to step into our bigger, vaster selves, we are given the opportunity to truly be free. Freedom means we are trusting in god, life, the universe to provide for us, to inspire us, to guide us. Freedom means we are no longer problem-solving with our mind, trying to put sandbags around our foundations to shore them up, or worrying about the future.

When we live in a place of total freedom, we trust that life is abundant and that as long as we follow our inspiration, we will remain in the flow of life — receiving and distributing as we are guided to.

We become like the pipe that water flows through. We don’t hold onto the water. Instead, the water flows to and through us, and then moves on. As the water flows through us, we receive all that we need. And because the water is always flowing, we always have enough.

I heard someone say that we have defined abundance incorrectly. True abundance is having just enough at just the right time. It is not stockpiling and hoarding for some future possibility.

I encourage you to take a look at what sacred “security blanket” you’re holding onto. Begin to loosen your grip, your attachment, to it. Start to picture your life as part of the flow of all that is. As you do, you’ll understand what it’s like to feel safe in the flow, and to no longer need security structures in place.

What is oneness?

where each is present in all

all is accessible to each

the light of one is bright

the light of all is beyond comprehension

in its luminosity, power, effect

***

each taps into unity

accessing the vastness of all creation

expressing it via individual essence

all consciousness

all awareness

available to each

in this space

there is nothing that can’t happen

everything is possible

in and through oneness

Shifts and Giggles

One of the most common things I tell clients as they are creating huge shifts in their lives is to ‘have fun with it’. So often we forget that life doesn’t have to be hard and filled with struggle — in fact, we can shift our perspective and think of ways to laugh as we make transitions (even big ones).

Imagine that life insists, demands, and mandates that you have fun! What might be different about your life if you are determined to have fun no matter what you are doing? How would getting up for work on Monday morning change?

Begin to create humorous ways to experience life, even the mundane aspects of life, and you’ll be amazed at how much lighter and freer you feel, how much happier you are. It’s miraculous what gifts a lighter heart will bring into your life!

Try this, just for shifts and giggles…

Go within, or go without.

This is a slogan that was made popular as a way to encourage people to meditate. However, I’ve found it to be true regardless of whether you meditate or not.

In order to access all that is available to you in life, it’s necessary to go within and listen to your own inner knowing, your internal GPS, your inner voice, your soul, the Holy Spirit within you, or whatever you call it. It’s your connection to the divine and it will not mislead you. It is trustworthy and always on your side.

It is when we don’t take the time (moments, really) to tune into this wise inner guidance, that we end up listening to our mind/ego and may find ourselves wandering down fruitless paths that take us nowhere.

And while some find that meditating helps them to hear their inner voice more clearly, others find they don’t need a technique. Here are a few examples of how people tune into their inner wisdom:

Paolo knows when he’s touched upon something meaningful and important to him when he gets goosebumps out of the blue. He knew he’d found the right studio to produce his music when his arms became covered in goosebumps as he talked to the studio manager.

Sabrina gets a knowing in her head, but it feels different from times when she is thinking a thought. This knowing is like a thought or image that just appears in her mind, without her having thought about it at all. It’s like someone dropped it in, fully fleshed out. And when she has one of these knowings, she also has a lot of excitement and energy around the idea — that’s how she recognizes her inner knowing’s guidance.

Javier gets a feeling in his gut. This is a very common way to feel your inner guidance. Javier was on his way to work one morning and had a gut feeling to stop in a coffee shop, even though he doesn’t drink coffee. As he walked in the door, he saw the most beautiful woman at the counter. He immediately introduced himself to the lady who would later become his wife. Javier trusts his gut feeling and simply acts when it signals him. He has seen it work so many times, that he no longer questions it.

These are just a few examples — your way of knowing may be different. Think back to times in your life when you have had a ‘knowing feeling’. Then recall what happened when you followed it, and what happened in those instances when you didn’t follow it. This will help you to identify your unique way of sensing your inner guidance.

To live your best life, remember to go within, or go without.

Whatever it is…do it.

You know what I’m talking about — that thing you’ve been itching to try, that experience you’ve been wanting to have, that person you’ve been meaning to call. Whatever it is…do it.

Because whatever it is, it could turn out to be very important to you. It might open up a door to a whole new world, unseen opportunities, new friends….who knows what awaits you?

When we receive inspiration to try something, we are being given a nudge from our inner selves. Imagine it’s your inner knowing whispering to you, “Psst, hey there — why don’t you check this out?”

If we allow our conscious mind to immediately jump in and evaluate the potential value of doing that, we most likely will not pursue it. Our conscious minds are great at rationalizing away new experiences and at sticking to what’s known.

But if we refuse to let our conscious mind interfere, and simply try it, who knows what delicious adventure, what eye-opening experience, what perception-altering situation is in store for us?

What is it for you: that thing you haven’t done? Whatever it is…do it.

The Disconnect

loneliness overtakes you

you wonder

how can it be

when you are connected

to all that is

you know it’s true

most times you feel it too

but then this emptiness descends

vacuum-like

feeling adrift and alone

in a sea of unknown faces

somewhere there is

a disconnect

as you learn to maneuver

between your humanness

and your spiritual essence

***

but what if

no flip-flopping was required

just let go of the duality

embrace the oneness

recognize you are spiritually human

humanly spiritual

a spiritual being

having a human experience

not one or the other

but both simultaneously

it is then

that you realize

and really know

there is no need for

the disconnect

The purpose of the mind

Where many of us get tripped up in this game of life is in how we use our mind. Societal mores tell us to rely on the individual mind, to use its power, to harness it to achieve whatever it can dream up. However, spiritual teachings encourage us to get out of the mind, to listen to our inner knowing, to follow our heart, to stop striving and accept ‘what is’. These seem to be in direct opposition to one another.

A friend recently shared the following explanation about the purpose of the mind. I found it so interesting, that I wanted to share it with you. I’d love to open a discussion about this…so after you read it, please comment below with your impressions.

“The [individual] mind was never intended to be a generating center for thought processes, but really as the receiver of the impulse from the heart center of creation, which the individual then utilized to fulfill his or her part in the divine plan.

In the great scheme of things, there is only ONE MIND, not many, and this great perfect mind of God was intended to express itself through the many manifestations of the ONE, and the [individual] self was intended to be merely a conduit in the physical world to take the divine ideas and, through the uses of the substances of the four elements, mould them into form.”  (Ascended Master Kuthumi, The Bridge to Freedom Journal, Book 5)
